Robert Kiernan has been involved with firearms since an early age. He grew up shooting and has always appreciated the skill and technique that comes from good instruction and practice. Robert joined the U.S. Army in 1990 and served as an airborne infantryman where he received several awards for his skill and hard work. He served for two years on active duty and six years with the New Jersey Army National Guard.

Robert joined the U.S. Border Patrol in 1998 and began his career at the U.S. Border Patrol’s Nogales Station where he served as a member of the bike patrol unit. In 2000 Robert became a member of the Tucson Sector’s Search, Trauma, and Rescue Team (BORSTAR) and was promoted to supervisor in 2008.

In 2023, Robert was accepted onto the Tucson Sector Action Shooting team where he had the honor of representing the U.S. Border Patrol in competitive shooting matches.

Robert retired from the Tucson Sector Special Operations Detachment/BORSTAR after 26 years of dedicated service.

Throughout his career, Robert gained numerous instructor certifications as listed below;

· U.S. Border Patrol Physical Instructor Training Program, 2003

· U.S. Customs and Border Protection Intermediate Force Instructor Training Program, 2007

· U.S. Customs and Border Protection Firearms Instructor Training Program, 2017

· U.S. Customs and Border Protection Active Shooter Instructor Training Program, 2017

· U.S. Border Patrol Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) Instructor, 2021

· National Rifle Association Basic Pistol Instructor, 2022

Robert is also certified as a U.S. Border Patrol Field Maintenance Armorer as well as a Glock Armorer.

Robert has maintained a certification as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician since 2001.

Robert continues to improve his own skills and journey towards excellence as he trains and competes regularly within the structure of the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) where he holds classifications in the Production, Carry Optics, and Limited 10 divisions.
